Murabba El Balah: Dates in Clove Syrup & Stuffed Dates from Bateel

I have always loved dates and figs and this one takes dates to another level-a Lebanese specialty AND one of the 1000 Foods to Eat before you Die-these dates are PEELED (try that if you think it is easy), coated with sugar and left it sit overnight, stuffed with an almond and boiled in syrup and allowed to rest for up to a month before being packed for shipping to such places as my house. The end result is a very soft, sweet date that takes on a completely new taste and texture but is still a date. Where to get them? No easy task but Buy Lebanese has them.

Another interesting date option comes from Bateel that Oprah Winfey voted one of her favorite things for 2019. They have different packages and combinations and the one you see to the left is a 4 pack of dates stuffed with almonds, with hazelnuts, with ginger and and with caramelized orange peels. These are not on the 1000 Food list but they are loved by Oprah and that counts for quite a bit.
