Sultan Bakery of Murrieta: Give Lahmajoun a try

Lahmajoun

So I have given up carbs and sugar for the past several months BUT while in Murrieta, I found a place called the Sultan Bakery & Grill and they had Lahmajoun on their menu.  Lahmajoun is a one of the things on the 1000 things list of things to eat before you die from Turkey/Armenia. The really nice thing about this particular carb is that it is VERY thin piece of dough topped with minced meat. While it does resemble pizza, the dough is far thinner and there isn’t cheese so i figured the carb calorie count would be lower.  The meat used for Lahmajoun is often lamb or beef and in the case of the Sultan Bakery, they use beef spiced with onions, tomatoes, parsley and cinnamon (I also think allspice).  It is a food that Wikipedia says has been eaten since the middle ages.  I am not the hugest fan-I really don’t like cinnamon and allspice in savory foods but it was nice to eat a carb that resembled pizza but without all of the fat.  I also got an order of the chicken kebab salad. The spice on the chicken was so delicious. I do think the Sultan Bakery is a gem worth making the trek to Murrieta to visit.
