A 1000 Year-Old Market: London’s Borough Market

One of the 1000 Things to Eat Before You Die is a visit to Borough Market.  This open Aire market is available to the public a few days a week and is wholesale the rest of the week.  The market began over 1000 years ago at the foot of the London Bridge and they moved to their current location in 1756.  Our story began 1,000 years ago, when a market took shape at the foot of London Bridge.

Eton Mess Donuts

The market has a mind-blowing large and beautiful selection of produce, cheese and meats.  Each stall was more beautiful than the next and trying to sort out what we would buy for a picnic was next to impossible.  Having a donut, however, was not a difficult choice and Tara introduced me to the Eton Mess which is a combo of cream filling, meringue and strawberries-in this case enclosed by a donut.  This is an absolute must to visit-be sure to bring a big bag to haul home everything your heard desires.
