Giving Potted Shrimp One more Try: 1000 Things to Eat

So it has been some time since i posted anything from the 1000 Foods to Eat Before you Die book, but being as I am in London, this is the first of many new 1000 Things to check off the list and explain if they are worth eating (at least to me).  We ate at Wiltons for lunch (more about that in blogs to come) but at Wilton’s I ordered the potted shrimp.  I had tried to make them and did not like them.  I think the thing that turned me off was the taste of mace which is not my most favorite of spices.  This being said, the potted shrimps at Wiltons are supposedly amazing. They can be served either warm or cold and after much debate, Tara and I decided on the most traditional route which is cold.  They came in what I thought looked to be a very small ramekin but it was PACKED with the tiniest of shrimps and the two of us managed to consume only about 1/2 of the pot before we had to move on to other things.  I little bit of potted shrimp does go a long way but stacked onto toast, they were delicious.  The taste of mace or maybe even nutmeg was very subtle and the real taste was that of delicious shrimp with just enough butter to hold them on the toast.  I still think that if choosing between potted shrimp and a really delicious pate, I would pick the pate but why should i have to choose?  I could just have both.
