Puesto Tacos-Be sure to try the Filet Mignon Taco

Last night our friend Terrie had to go to the airport. In true Covid fashion, we made this an event by going out to eat before hand.  I am pretty set on outdoor dining and when I looked at the list of places with nice patios, Puesto popped up. This place had already been on my radar as it was one of the spots listed on my 13 Best Tacos in San Diego lists. We know I love my lists.  After swearing off tacos for about a month following Niki and my taco binge during her latest visit, I did feel like this might be the be the spot.  It was on the way to the airport, had a huge outdoor space and the list said the filet mignon taco with cheese was the thing to eat.  We arrived to a very beautiful indoor/bar restaurant with two very nice outdoor spaces.  Box #1 checked-yes-nice patio.  I ordered the filet mignon taco and the Quesobirria taco. Both come with a crispy cheese shell encasing the meat before it is placed on the taco.  Our waitress (who we loved) explained that everything is made from scratch there-the salsa, the blue corn tortillas, etc.  It shows.  The Tacos were amazing and while I didn’t try any of Tyler’s Carnitas Bowl-the bowls looked pretty darn good, too.  We did try the beer that is brewed on location-I like the dark beer which had just won an award.  My thoughts?  Puesto is my new favorite place.

You cannot make everybody happy.  You are not a taco.
