Enstrom’s Almond Toffee (or Brown & Haley Almond Roca)

Mimi Sheraton has Enstrom’s Almond Toffee as a 1000 foods to eat. Enstrom’s is a Denver-based company and I do like there toffee. My only issue is that I am a Seattle girl and was raised on Brown & Haley’s Almond Roca. I am pretty sure that Mimi hasn’t had the Washington version or it would have made the 1000 Foods list. I felt so strongly that I bought both and did two taste tests. In the first (conducted on my family) Almond Roca won by a 3-1 margin. I felt vindicated. A large sample ended up with a split vote. I guess it all depends on your thoughts. The toffee is darker in the Brown and Haley and the chocolate is creamier in Enstrom’s. My friend, Todd, says his homemade version is better. He still has to put his money where his mouth is… more on this later.
