At my work we have birthday buddies and bring in a cake or treat for the birthday.  This past year I decided to try to make one of the cakes in my 1000 Foods to Eat Before you Die called Pischinger Torte.  There are recipes to make the Oblaten wafers but if you look at recipes for this, this is to be made with Oblaten wafers made in the Czech town of Karlsbad. Obtaining these are not difficult-my good friends at Amazon were more than happy to ship me a package.  Once you have the wafers the rest is simple.  Each wafer is layered with chocolate buttercream frosting and sprinkled with toasted hazelnuts or toasted almonds:  One water on the bottom with a thin layer of frosting, thin sprinkling of nuts and then next wafer with more frosting and nuts.  I used six wafers in total.  The cake is simply frosted:  Melt 4 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips and then drizzle over the top. Final, sprinkle with a few more toasted nuts.  Simple or not, this is a delicious cake.
