When in Krakow: Eat pierogies and drink the vodka

Before I left for Krakow, one of my co-workers told me to be sure to drink the vodka. That the vodka’s were flavored with grasses.  Now, not sure about you but the thought of drinking grass-flavored vodka just isn’t that appealing. The Bolivians drink mate which is (I am pretty certain) brewed grass clippings.  Now my grass clippings would be in my vodka? So I waited until the last possible moment and then tried this grass-flavored stuff. I couldn’t come home w/o trying this in order to not disappoint my co-worker. All I can say is WOW.  WOW. WOW.  I need to go back with an empty suitcase.  They might be flavored with grasses but they are amazing. I went to Poland with my brother, Jay, my niece, Nicole and my daughter, Elena.  Our primary purpose was to visit the land where my mother’s family had lived prior to going to the US in the 1850’s.  They were Germans who lived in what is now Poland so they most likely didn’t drink any grass flavored vodka.  Sad for them.  We also had to eat the pierogi, of course. I am a fan of meat put into pastry of any sort so pierogi was right up my alley.  Jay had been before on a business trip and had eaten at Miod I Vino in Karko.  They make boil pierogi. They fry pierogi. They deep-fry pierogi.  We ate there and then ate there again. The third night we didn’t eat there (figured we should try something else).  Bad choice on our part. For anyone going to Poland I have the following advice:  ONLY eat Pierogi and ONLY drink vodka and not necessarily in that order.  Also go to Miod I Vino.
