Last night we tried to get into what might be a very nice speakeasy on 27th Street but the wait was two hours. We returned to a bar we had seen on the way and are thrilled that we did.  The Oscar Wilde Bar is just plain crazy.  First of all it is huge and wall to wall with happy customers. Every surface is covered paintings or paraphernalia of the time.  The bar (and there are several) is beautiful but each drink is made with care and innovation.  I had the Cemetery Gates which is a mix of many good things (Old Overholt Rye, Peach Combier, Amarao Nonino and Angostura Bitters) but the trickiest part was that our amazing bartender set a cinnamon stick on fire multiple times, capturing the smoke into a decanter into which he poured the rest of the ingredients. He then covered the stick with additional alcohol, set it on fire and put it into my drink still flaming.  It was better entertainment that the vast majority of movies at the box office.
