Having Fritto Misto di Pesce (Mixed Fish Fry) in Burano

Elena, Joey and I all agree that the very best mussel we have eaten in our whole lives comes from an order of Fritto Misto di Pesce in the fishing Island called Burano located which is located 30 minutes by boat from Venice.  This fried fish order is listed as something you should eat in Mimi Sheraton’s 1000 Foods to Eat before you Die.  Each of the seafood items are lightly coated in flour and fried and then served with squeezed lemon.  So simple but the freshness comes through in every bite. Every bite was a perfect bite. We ate well in Italy, but all of our favorite bites was a simple fried mussel.
