Cardoon…. why/how can this possibly be a 1000 thing?

Yum, Cardoon

It has been quite a while since I wrote a post about the 1000 things to eat but then, I am now 700+ into the book and there is a very strong likelihood I won’t get them all-the café in Egypt is likely a no go (have been and don’t’ see going again), or the ones with brains don’t really appeal but I did break down and buy cardoon.  So if you look this up, you will see that it is like an artichoke and looks like a thistle.   I bought it and served it with cheese and crackers. The reality, is it pretty much like boiled celery. Soft, bland and unmemorable.
