What country is named for yogurt? Bulgaria: Eating Bulgarian yogurt

We all know that not all yogurt is created equal but as I am planning a trip to Bulgaria next year, I came across the little-known fact that Bulgaria is named for one of the most common bacterias used to culture yogurt:   Lactobacillus bulgaricus. NI am not sure how I would feel to know, if I were Bulatarian, that my country was named for a bacteria and when I visit next year, I’ll find out if I can tactfully get some insight into this. in the meantime, Bulgarian yogurt is a tart, creamy yogurt that is unlike any other than I have eaten.  It is not only tasty but it is higher in calcium than many other yogurt varieties. Best of news is that you don’t have to leave the country to get it. White Mountain Foods has produced Bulgarian yogurt since 1980 from their facility in Texas using the traditional methods and traditional Bulgarian bacteria.  I found it both at Major Market and Whole Foods in San Diego.  I paired it with my most favorite granola-Oakbox from Montreal, Canada that can be ordered via a monthly subscription.
