One of my favorite things about traveling is the fact that you get to eat things you don’t find in your local markets so often. Mimi Sheraton captured both Durian and Rambutan in her 1000 foods to eat but missed Logan. We ate all three in Singapore…

Durian

Durian is known as the stinky fruit. You really don’t want to eat it in an enclosed space and realistically, I don’t like it at all. I gave it another try on our Christmas trip and am still not a fan. That being said, you see it everywhere so someone is eating it. The smell is really overpowering and has almost a raw sewage sort of smell. I know I am making is seem so very appetizing, so skip forward to the rambutan or logan…

Rambutan

Rambutan is known as the “hair” desert as it looks like it has hair. It is a close cousin to the lychee and is really delicious. It is simple to peel and inside is a soft, white fruit with a seed.

Logan

Finally, Logan. Not sure why Mimi doesn’t have this one on the list of fruits to eat. Once again, this is a very similar to a lychee-smooth white fruit with seed inside. It has a nickname of “dragon -eye” as it looks a bit like an eyeball when peeled. The peel is almost like an egg shell or bark and is very easy to peel.
