In Venice, cicchetti are everywhere to be found.  Small street snacks, best washed down with beer, wine or a cocktail, they come  in many shapes and forms.  One cicchetti is an olive, stuffed with a pork filling, battered and fried called Olive all’Ascolana.  They are time consuming to make and not easy to find.  We bought a few and then sat on steps on one of the many dead-end streets that end in water.  It was a perfect moment.  I was even able to get Joey (who hates olives) to give them a try.  Of course, they are a 1000 Thing to Eat Before You Die.  Of course, they are amazing.  How can they not be? Want to make them at home? Growing up, we had our own version of this-not stuffed with meat but stuffed with cheese, they are also delicious. Want to see more about them?  Olive Tarts
