The Farmer’s Table (La Mesa) and The Barnyard

I have long been a fan of the Farmer’s Table-the locally sourced breakfasts are one of my most favorite things.  Want to see the brunch menu?  My “pod” and I went to La Mesa recently in order to have the Barnyard which is a Bloody Mary that serves four.  Of course it has the the typical celery, bacon, etc. but it comes with a full CHICKEN as well and sparkler.  What more can be said?  Who doesn’t need a cocktail that comes with it’s own roasted chicken?

Apparently, I am not the ONLY fan of this place and this Bloody Mary…

“The Barn Yard Mary has house-made mix with a subtle flavor and as our waiter said, “half a bottle of vodka”. It’s not just the cows tipping over on this farm! But everyone knows that they order the BYM for the “skewers”. The Barn Yard Mary comes with multiple skewers of roasted seasonal veggies (zucchini, peppers, stuffed mushroom caps), tomato and mozzarella, pickled veggies (pepperoncini, olives, and onions) bacon wrapped shrimp, Mexican street corn (my favorite part), sage fennel sausage, and oh, a WHOLE ROASTED CHICKEN! Not just some dried out chicken, a juicy, moist, and succulent bird. It comes complete with a BBQ drizzle over everything!”

-EaterySanDiego:

“Farmer’s Table boasts five impressive bloodies – including the veggie based Peter Rabbit and meat-centric Butchers Block. With a nod to Baja, The Tijuana is made with jalapeño vodka and comes topped with a bacon-wrapped hot dog, Mexican-style street corn, pickled jalapenos and carrots, but please behold The Barn Yard! Prepared in a pitcher this mega sized bloody is packed with a whole roast hen, roasted veggies, bacon wrapped shrimp, and pickled veggies. Priced at a hefty $36 it’s recommended for groups of four or more.”

-SanDiegoVille:

“The Food Network has featured the excessively packed Bloody Mary from Farmer’s Table in San Diego’s La Mesa neighborhood, which also has a second location opening later this year in Little Italy’s brand new Piazza della Famiglia and a sister restaurant, Farmer’s Bottega, in Mission Valley. Check it out!”
