DB Burger-from DB Bistro Moderne from Daniel Bouloud

It does seem a shame to go to a Daniel Bouloud restaurant and have a burger but the DB Burger (at a price tag of $35 with fries) is on the 1000 Things to Eat Before You Die book, so the burger was a must last night (between seeing American Son with Kerry Washington and The Bands Visit both of which were amazing).  We all opted to split the burger so that we could have some of the other mouth-watering items on the menu but the burger is the theme of this post.  This particular burger was created in 2001 and has been a signature item on Chef Bouloud’s  menu ever since. it is a stuffed burger-I am led to believe he was a trend setter of the stuffed burger-AND he stuffs it with foie gras, black truffles, and beef short rib.  It comes on a beautiful bun-bread should not be overlooked because bread (and butter) are another item on the 1000 foods list.  the DB Bistro Moderne had fabulous bread that I’m going to add it to this post and get 2 for 1 chronicled.

We loved the burger-we had it medium rare, it oozed decadence.  We, as I mentioned, split one which was just the right amount of rich meat for one dinner. The table next to us (also consisting of three people) each had one. I noticed they finished theirs.  I am pretty sure they were so full they had to be rolled from the place. I am posting this today, and while I would strongly recommend this burger, take a friend, split it with them and have the mushroom soup and pate.  We did and we were neither rolled from the restaurant nor exited in a beef coma.
